How did World War II impact on British families?History - Autumn
How did World War II impact on British families?
Our oldest historians focus on World War II, exploring this as a turning point in British history. They learn about a family who lived during the war, and through each family member learn about a different aspect of the war, key dates and major historical events. They will explore the similarities and differences between experiences, and use their empathy skills to consider the huge challenges faced in wartime Britain. Children will then use this knowledge to develop their own wartime characters, considering a back story for them, to help teach others about the war.

The legacy of ancient Greece: What did the Greeks do for us?History - Summer
The legacy of ancient Greece: What did the Greeks do for us?
Our year 6 historians travel to Ancient Greece to consider the legacy of this remarkable civilisation on modern day Britain: art, architecture, literature, politics and sport. Children explore primary sources and secondary sources to develop their historical enquiry skills, and develop an understanding of how our knowledge of the past is constructed through sources of information. Children make connections and notice contrasts and trends over time, and communicate these through historical vocabulary. Children then share this knowledge through a performance.
